My first full week of fall semester ended today, and it was accompanied by a daylong downpour. I’ve spent the majority of the last two days soaked through to the bone and awaiting to catch my death, what with the building all of my classes are in being unbearably cold and nobody apparently knows how to do anything about that.
The cool weather has definitely made it feel like summer is really at its end. Especially after spending the last week of summer in Florida where things didn’t get much below 80 degrees even after the sun went down. I came back home wanting nothing more than to be able to bundle up. I kept feeling as though I was going to walk outside and catch a chill and need a hoodie or something. It was a weird feeling, because even here it was still always at least in the 80s during the day. But after a couple of days the temperatures did begin to dip in the evenings, and in the early mornings when I was going to work, and I got my wish. One morning I woke up and it was cool eough out to warrant jeans and hoodie.
The whole thing gave me an idea for a short story. So besides sating my strange desire to envelope myself in extra layers, it also cured a bit of writer’s block I had been suffering. I’ll post it on here when I’m done with it.
