I went through today on having gotten only 1 1/2 hours of sleep last night. It went surprisingly well. I was moving a little slow all day, but I wasn’t tired. One cup of coffee in the morning at work and I was fine. My shift went by fast considering it was pretty slow. The wet weather, even though it was done raining, seemed to keep most people away. The only customers that came in were regulars. One of our favorite regulars, Larry, brought me a bottle of wine from his recent trip to the wine country of Charlottesville. It comes from Horton Vineyards and is really quite good. I had been in the mood for wine for a few weeks now, since Florida. I blame all the Hemingway I read in the lat few weeks of summer. If there’s one thing Hemingway’s writing does for me is makes me want to be there, and wine is always a part of being there in his stories.
I spent a lot of time at work this morning working on a short story. I’m taking a pause from working on it further right now to make this post.
After the bakery I headed right to Richmond.com, and I was only there from 11-3, but it was the busiest I had ever been there. I did a “10 Questions” interview with the director of my school’s wellness center about some grant they received for drug and alcohol abuse prevention. It was a 15 minute interview and it took me a good hour to transcribe. I’m usually able to get people to answer the questions for me over e-mail so I just have to copy it over and edit it down, but despite the time it took I’m glad this one was a real conversation. She had a lot of interesting things to say about drinking education and the possible lowering of the drinking age. I’ll post a link to the story here when it runs on Monday.
We were apparently having a garden party today at Richmond.com for one of our writers who was leaving. The party was at 4 and I went home around 3 and planned to take a nap. I set my alarm for 4 to wake me up and I was going to decide if i wanted to go back for the party. I ended up sleeping through the alarm and woke up sometime around 7 p.m.
I think I’m going into work early tomorrow, at 6 instead of 6:30. I’m heading to Williamsburg right after I get off and I’ll be back Monday. I might update some over the weekend. Or I might just set up some auto updates to put some new reviews or something if I can get them working.

I really feel for you on having to go to work on 1 1/2 hours of sleep. That’s rough. I’m jealous, though, that you have regulars there bringing in wine. Sounds pretty cool to me.
As far as your short story– finish it, and I’ll come back and read it.
Thanks so much for commenting on my poem, and for linking to my blog on here.
Kindly,
