Winter Hibernation has set In

So, I’ve been pretty active, basically since the spring and into this semester. I’ve been working a lot between the bakery and Richmond.com and biking a lot and blowing through a stack of novels and writing, hanging out with a lot of people, going on trips…all kinds of stuff. It all kind of came to a stop in the last few days, on purpose, and it feels good.

I went home to Fredericksburg Wednesday night to spend the two days off from school we just had at my parents’ house just doing nothing. I went to lunch with my dad and to Costco with my mom on Thursday and I went to Panera for lunch of Friday, and that was about the extent of my activity. I got some good rest, I got a little writing done and just relaxed. There’s really nothing to do in Fredericksburg and usually that’s a complaint, but this time around it was exactly what I needed.

I came home Friday night since I had to work Saturday, and I just hung out with friends for a little while watching TV before going home where nobody else was around. I got bored and started searching around the house and found a controller for my Gamecube. I thought my brother’s dog had chewed them all up. I kept digging and found the rest of the hookups for my Gamecube. I had been craving some good video gaming recently and now I was almost to the point of being able to relive some great memories…but I couldn’t fine any of my games. I figured my brother must have taken those to play on his Wii.

So, I resigned myself to playing more Diablo II which is how I’ve been getting my fix since the announcement of Diablo III. Saturday night after work however, I went by my brother’s place and picked up the game I was certain he had. Animal Crossing, Star Wars: Rouge Squadron II, Need for Speed: Underground, Tony Hawk 3, True Crime and my Zelda collector’s edition. I was really excited to play Rouge Squadron, but opened the box and it was empty. So, I popped in the Zelda disc (4 classics in 1) and started a new game on “Majora’s Mask” which is actually a Nintendo 64 game and a totally underrated one at that.

So, fast forward to Sunday. I met my brother and his wife for brunch and it was pretty cold out, especially while biking around. I got home around noon and buried myself under my blankets and spent the entire day basically trading off between my Gamecube and Zelda and my laptop and Diablo II. It felt good and even after all of that (and by that I mean all that nothing) I went to sleep just after mid-night, slept perfect and didn’t want to get out of bed in the morning.
